The planet, named Kepler 78b , was discovered a few weeks ago by NASA's Kepler planet-hunting spacecraft. Its orbit is about 40 times closer to its star than Mercury is to our Sun, and research suggests the surface of the planet is estimated to be more than 2500°C and covered in a layer of lava.
