Body parts on a chip: It is something Incredible

In this Ted Talk, Geraldine Hamilton explains how her lab creates organs and body parts on a chip, thus creating simple structures with all the necessary elements essential to testing new medications. This technology even comes with ability to test custom cures for one specific person.

“We need to become cell architects, we need to design, build and engineer a home away from home for the cells. At this institute we’ve done that, we call that an organ on a chip. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? Right here in my hand is a living, breathing lung on a chip. Its not just beautiful, it can do a tremendous amount of things. We have living cells on a chip. Cells in a dynamic environment interacting with different cell types.” ~ Geraldine Hamilton
